Hong Kong Trip 2015: Singapore to Hong Kong - Day 1

Monday, November 02, 2015

Finally I get myself to write about my Hong Kong trip which I went three months ago. I was so reluctant to write due to laziness.

Back in first week of Aug 2015, Katherine and I flew to Hong Kong for a 6D5N stay. (Yes. It was during SG50 National's Day which consist 4 days of holiday! Whee)

Usually the weather in Hong Kong is humidity in August with occasional Showers, Thunderstorms and Typhoons which didn't happen to me (choy).

It was kinda HOT when we reached there. The only day that rain was the day I went to Disneyland.

Before we went to Hong Kong, I had already reserve the Wifi-Router which was recommend by my friend, Katherine.

As we will be in Hong Kong (only Macau is not included in their plan.), we took the Single Country Plan and it's cost SGD $12 per day.
There will be no charge for the 1st day of rental.

Example: I'm travelling to Hong Kong from 6th August to 11th August. Total rental period will be 5 days. Total rental is SGD$60. Unless your flight is about 8pm on the 11th August so you will reach Singapore about 12 am plus, That will be counted as 6 days.

They have a promo code, so you can get a $2 off.

Wifi Router: $30 per pax (Total $60 divided by 2)

Please reserve by email them in advance.
You can check this website for more information.

AIRBNB

Booked our apartment through Airbnb which I will recommend if you're looking for affordable places to stay.

It cost about S$104 per night x 5 night + S$63 Airbnb services Fee so total will be S$582.
(Sometime the rates will be different depending on which month you go)

This is the studio apartment that we were staying.
The apartment look slightly different compare the photo but everything was great.

Click this link for more information.

Summary for the Apartment and Flight Tickets Expenses:

Apartment: S$291 per pax (Total S$582 divided by 2)
Air ticket: S$315 per pax (Total for two person is S$630)

Total: S$606

As our flight was 6am, so we decided to meet early like 11 pm which is the day before and stay over in the airport. Check in around 4am plus. I was pretty excited!

Hong Kong!!!

After the immigration, we got a little surprise.

Yes Redeemed some free gifts!

Okay after I took the free gifts, went to buy sim card which was located somewhere in the airport (duh! Ask someone from there, they will guide you.)

1010.
That the shop that I bought my pre paid card.

The service is abit ummm.
Anyway I told the person I want to get a Sim Card that consist of local call and international call only.
Didn't planning to get data plan because I have wifi-router but it look like I don't have a choice uh.
They recommended this Sim Card, $218 which cost S$38.58. (Rates: 5.65)
Actually this is not bad.

- 100 MB (Roaming in China and Macau, Good news for those who are going Macau and you definitely need internet.)

- 5 GB (Local Mobile Data. This is bloody alot which I feel that the wifi router is not a need anymore. Hahaha!)

- Unlimited Local Call (I definitely need this to contact the person who is in charge of the apartment that booked through Airbnb.)

My apartment location is in between MTR Kowloon or Austin

So I took the airport express from Airport to Kowloon.

Airport Express Service consist of 5 stations:

AsiaWorld Expo -->Airport -->Tsing Yi --> Kowloon --> Hong Kong

You can purchase the tickets at the counter. (In the middle of the airport if I'm not wrong.)

While I'm queuing, one of their staff approached me and ask me how many tickets and to where.
So once I told them, they will give me this form and I just pass it to the counter will do when it's my turn.

Bought "Group of 2 Ticket" for 140 HKD is S$24.80 so each person is S$12.40

The Tickets to Kowloon Station.

Was in the rush so didn't took much photo. So I took this photo from a website.
This is how it look like. You won't miss this sign.
"Trains to City"

Boarded the train *excited mood*

Reached Kowloon Station. When you exit, you will this.

But first, we went to the McDonald to buy some food which is nearby only.  (I think turn to the right, you will see a mini McDonlad)

Minions! So cute!

How to go to our apartment:

As I have already contacted the owner, Carlson's housekeeper at the airport.
(Sorry forgot her name. Ha!)
She told me to alight at Kowloon Station from the airport express. And then from there, you exit to Jordan Road.

So I took to Kowloon Station and then I ask the security how to go Jordan Station
and she told us to take the lift up to the shopping center (Element shopping mall). You will see "Jordan Road " sign.
(Didn't manage to take photos of the directions as I was dragging my luggage with two bags.)

Around somewhere you will see this sign. Go straight. and turn to your left If I'm not wrong. You will pass by another security.

Saw the doors? I didn't took photos! Haha
You will see this bridge.  Go Straight and turn to your right,

Finally reached!

This is the building I'm staying. It seem to be under renovation.
